Summer Camps for Fun and Education

When you think of summer camps, you might have memories of small rickety cabins, overly syrupy Kool-aid and lots and lots of mosquitoes, but more and more, today’s kids are walking away from their experience with a totally different point of view than the ones that their parents and even older siblings have had. Today’s camps make it a point of pride to avoid being a glorified babysitting service and instead prefer to find ways to educate and enlighten the youngsters that have been placed, however temporarily, in their care.

Every state will have at least a few summer camps, and many will have quite a high number, but if you’re looking to enroll a child in one, you need to think about what your child needs. For instance, there are quite a few in Arizona that directly pertain to the living in and enjoying the state’s beautiful desert setting, while other camps in Illinois will show the children involved what life was like on the prairie. When you make your own decision on your child’s camp, think about how far you are comfortable with them going.

While you should definitely keep in mind what your child is interested in, remember to think about what they will be picking up while they are on their own. When you go to get your child signed up for summer camp, rest assured that at all qualified camps, great lengths are taken to make the experience as safe as possible. If possible, to reassure yourself of this fact, head there yourself and ask to wander around. Assess the location and think about your child playing and doing activities there. While accidents do happen, the very vast majority of children will come home with nothing worse than a sunburn.

Summer camps in the United States were founded during the middle of the nineteenth century, with a boys’ school that was opened in Connecticut. The Gunnery Camp, as it was called, operated for twelve years before its close, but by the end, the country had already seen a rise in both religious and non-denominational camps.If you are interested in sending your child to summer camp, do your research and rest assured that your child will have a great time.

Cheerleading Summer Camps

An activity to cheer at sports teams, games or any other competitive performances using dance or gymnastics as an element is called cheerleading. The participants in cheerleading activities are called cheerleaders. Cheerleading summer camps are designed to develop cheerleading skills and teaching them new techniques of cheerleading. Cheerleading camps have a day packed with instructions and practice for their participants. Teams are termed as squads. These squads are encouraged to participate as a team and learn new cheering techniques. Practice sessions are conducted to evaluate their performances based on the training sessions. Squads are evaluated on their performance on the final day when a cheerleading competition is organized.

Campers are given written evaluations. These ratings lay stress on the achievements and areas of improvement. Two aspects are taken into consideration while evaluating. One is the leadership quality of the cheerleader to involve the crowd in the activity and the second is the technique used in cheerleading. Cheerleading techniques include cheer chanting, tumbling and stunting. Chants are usually a repetitive process that involves group participation.

These camps are usually day camps and participants need to bring along snacks with them. If it is an all-inclusive camp then it might be a little more expensive than one that doesn?t supply as many additional services Most of these camps also do a show or presentation for the parents towards the end of the camp to exhibit the skills acquired by the cheerleaders during these camps. Before enrolling for these camps it is necessary to see if the camps are safe. Cheerleading stunts could involve gymnastics, stunts or other such techniques. The coaches should be professionally qualified. They should be able to deal with emergencies and ensure the safety of the participants.
